Morris gets made fun of because he likes dressing up as a girl so one day he stays at home because he has a tummy ache. Ivan The Remarkable True Story Of The Shopping Mall Gorilla

Ivan The Remarkable True Story Of The Shopping Mall Gorilla is a book about a gorilla that is illegally captured and sold at the age of six months to a shopping mall owner the book is written by Katherine Applegate and illustrated by G.Brion Karas.  I think that the theme of this book is that every animal should be treated the same way as you treat other humans. I thought that this book needed a little bit more of information and that it should have mentioned the other animals that participate in the novel the one and only Ivan.

Spoon

Spoon is a book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Scott Magoon. It is about a little kid who is a spoon and thinks that all of his friends are better than like knife is better than him because he gets to cut and spread and fork she goes everywhere and chopsticks everyone thinks their cool and exotic. But what spoon didn’t know was what knife, fork, and chopsticks were saying about. That night when spoon was going his mom tucked him in and said why do you think your friends are better they never get to dive head first into a bowl of ice cream they don’t get to hear the clinking when you hit the edge of a cereal bowl or the warmth of going around a hot cup of coffee or tea. I think that this book shows a really important lesson that even if you think that other people are better than you, in the end, you are all amazing for your own things.

Enemy Pie

Enemy Pie

Enemy Pie is a children’s book written by Derek Munson and illustrated by Tara Calahan King. It is about a little kid that is having a perfect summer until a kid named Jeremy Ross moved into a house down the street Jeremy Ross was his worst enemy he laughed at him when he struck out at baseball games he didn’t invite him to his trampoline parties even though he invited his best friend Stanley. Jeremy Ross was the one and only person on his enemy list. His dad knew lots about enemy’s so he went over to his dad and asked him his dad said that when he was little he had had lots of enemies and the quickest way to get rid of them was with enemy pie the recipe was so secret that his dad couldn’t even tell him what was in it so he went outside and grabbed weeds to put into the pie but when he did his dad just shook his head so he went outside again and grabbed some earthworms his dad shook his head again so he went outside and started shooting hoops. When the pie was ready he went inside and asked why it smelled so good shouldn’t it smell bad he said. No said his father said because if it smells bad your enemy won’t eat it so we need it to smell good. The only thing you need to do for the enemy pie to work is spend a whole day with your enemy. So he did the next morning he walked up to Jeremy Ross’s house and asks him if he wants to play he says yes so they go outside and they spend the whole day together at the end of the day he asks Jeremy Ross to come to his house for dinner Jeremy says yes so they go to his house were dinner is already ready and they have mac and cheese when they finish up their mac and cheese the dad brings the pie and cuts everybody a huge slice and puts a scoop of ice cream on top while he is serving the pie the son tells him not to give Jeremy a slice that he was his friend but the dad didn’t listen so before Jeremy starting eating the pie he yelled stop don’t eat the pie why Jeremy asks because it is poisoned then why is your dad already halfway through his pie he looked at his dad and it was true his dad had almost finished the pie. I think that this book teaches a lot about enemies and making friends because it shows that in one day your best enemy can become your best friend.

I Used to be a Fish

I Used to be a Fish is a book written and illustrated by Tom Sullivan it is about a fish that goes through evolution first growing some legs to become a lizard the to become a monkey and finally a human but that human does extraordinary things like hunts for the first time or builds a shed for the first time and then finally he builds a city. This book is a story about evolution and how things change over time and I think that on such a big topic the story is too simple to sound believable. In my opinion, this book doesn’t have the information that it needs to have for me to count it as an interesting book.

Bats Big Game

Bats Big Game

Bats Big Game is a children’s book that was retold by Margaret Read Macdonald and illustrated by Eugenia Nobati. It is about a bat that goes to a soccer game were the birds and the animals are playing each other and he keeps changing teams because he doesn’t know what team will win and when the team that he is not on takes the lead he switches teams. But when he switches back to the animal team for the second time Bear stops the game and calls the players over and asks the birds if Bat had played for their team and they said yes. Then the birds asked the animals if bat had played on their team and they said yes. So they asked bat what team he was on and he said I only wanted to play for the winning team so Bear said that a good player sticks with his team even when their losing and that he couldn’t play for either team. I thought that this book was a good lesson for kids that only play to win and not to have fun.

The sweetest Fig

The Sweetest Fig

The Sweetest Fig is a book that was written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg. This book is about a dentist named Monsieur Bibot and his dog Marcel. One day at Monsieur Bibots office a little lady comes in and tells Monsieur Bibot that she has a tooth ache and that if he would mind to look at it so he does and turns out that he needs to pull it out. After he pulls out the tooth the dentist tells the lady that she will give her pain killers to take but right after the lady says that she can’t pay in money but instead she can pay with something much better a couple of magic figs. Monsieur Bibot gets so angry that she kicks the lady out of the shop without giving her the pills. That night at Monsieur Bibots house he pulls one of the figs out of the covered and sits down at the table. The next morning he grabs Marcel to take him out for his walk and as he is walking down the street he notices that everyone is staring at him. “They must be admiring my suit” he thinks but when he sees his reflection in the window of a cafe he notices that he is in underwear. So he runs into an ally and realizes that what the lady said was true the figs made your dreams come true. So he looked up waiting for the second part of his dream to come true. As he ran home no one was looking at him because they were looking at the Eiffel Tower bend like it was a piece of rubber. Every day after that before bed he would keep saying that he was rich in front of a mirror and just like that he started dreaming that he was rich and that he was flying his plane and living in luxury. One day he grabbed the second fig and put on a plate and while he went to get cutlery he herd china break behind he turned around to see Marcel standing on two legs eating the second fig. Monsieur Bibot was so mad he started chasing after Marcel when Marcel went under the bed Monsieur Bibot started yelling at him. After a while Monsieur Bibot went furiously to bed the next morning when Monsieur Bibot woke up he wasn’t on the bed he was under it and then he heard time for your morning walk. Monsieur Bibot tried yelling but all he could do was bark. I think that this book was really interesting and shows what you get not treating other people with respect even if its a dog like Marcel. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a short story to pass sometime.
